Patriots rookie running back TreVeyon Henderson had an unbelievable performance in New England’s 28-23 win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday.

Henderson carried the ball 14 times, gaining 147 yards and scoring two touchdowns. These weren’t just easy 1-yard runs from the goal line; one touchdown was a stunning 55-yard run, and the other went for an impressive 69 yards.

Former NFL running back Melvin Gordon has been quite impressed with Henderson’s recent performance and believes the Patriots have found their running back of the future.

“I think New England is going to have itself a guy,” Gordon said on Sunday during “CBS Sports HQ”.

Henderson had a challenging start to the season, managing just 43 carries for 151 yards and one touchdown in the first seven games. However, he turned things around in the last three games, rushing 38 times for 277 yards and scoring twice.

The 23-year-old running back has taken on a notably expanded role over the past two weeks, especially since a toe injury sidelined starting running back Rhamondre Stevenson for the last two games.

If Henderson keeps performing at a high level, then New England’s offense will be hard to stop, given how quarterback Drake Maye is playing.
