With the Pittsburgh Steelers starting off 3-1 and atop of the AFC North through four weeks, former NFL quarterback and current ESPN analyst Dan Orlovsky has received a lot of flak for an old take.

After the schedule release in May, Orlovsky said the Steelers were staring at 0-6 in the face. This was before Aaron Rodgers signed, however. He said this on the notion if Mason Rudolph started.

“No. I think you’re staring at 0-6 in the face,” Orlovsky said on ESPN’s schedule reaction show when asked about the team’s chances if Rudolph starts.

Even when Rodgers signed in June, however, Orlovsky was still down on the outlook of the Steelers’ 2025 season.

“Worst place they could be in,” Orlovsky said on ESPN’s Get Up. “He’s good enough, they’re [the Steelers} good enough. They’re gonna go 9-8, 10-7. They don’t matter in the playoffs and we all known that. And then they’re not bad enough to get a top-eight pick and finally find the quarterback of the future. This still is a subpar offensive line. They only really have DK Metcalf on the perimeter. Great, we’re gonna be a contending team. Are we really gonna matter? No.”

The Steelers currently have a 34% chance to win the AFC North. They also have favorable matchups in their next two games after their bye week against the Cleveland Browns and Cincinnati Bengals. Instead of 0-6, the Steelers very well could be 5-1 heading into their Week 8 game against the Green Bay Packers.

Former New England Patriots linebacker Teddy Bruschi thinks the Steelers can win the AFC North.

“You better believe this because, this play right here. A thing of beauty when Aaron Rodgers hits his back foot and gets a runner’s ball out to DK Metcalf. More of this is needed, yes. But as a team, you see the progression in September,” Bruschi said on Get Up. “Finally, the defense starting to make plays and get after the quarterback in Carson Wentz. This is a team that I think can absolutely win the North. I’m not saying they’re going to run away with or anything like that. But this is going to be a December-won division, and right now, I think the Steelers are set up for it.”
