Former NFL linebacker Shaquem Griffin had quite the journey to get into the NFL, and we might not see another player quite like him for years to come.

By now, everyone knows the history of Griffin.

Not many athletes have played with disabilities like his, as his hand was amputated at a very young age.

The problem stemmed from a pregnancy issue as a strand of the amniotic membrane had wrapped around Shaquem Griffen’s wrist. That band stopped his left hand from developing, and doctors were faced with a difficult decision.

They could either try to move the band, but there were substantial risks involved with doing so.

Shaquem Griffin’s left hand was underdeveloped and often brought him pain, which forced him to have it amputated in 1999.

That huge loss would not stop him from achieving his goal as he played college football at UCF and was selected 141st overall by the Seattle Seahawks in the fifth round of the 2018 NFL Draft.

Griffin has since retired and is living his life with a second arm now.

CBS News did a report on Griffin to showcase the AI-powered bionic arm that he uses for everyday activities.
