Former NFL general manager Mike Tannenbaum, who’s an often critic of the Pittsburgh Steelers, had another negative take on the black and gold during Friday’s segment of ESPN’s Unsportsmanlike. Baltimore Ravens

“I think [the Bengals}, they’re there with the Ravens. I disagree with Ben Roethlisberger. Like, you have Lamar Jackson, Derrick Henry and Zay Flowers. The [Ravens] deserve a lot of credit. They attacked their weakness, which was their pass rush,” Tannenbaum said. “We’ll see how good Jesse Minter is, I think he’s gonna be a good coach. I have more questions about the Steelers, than I certainly do about the Ravens. Who’s [the Steelers] quarterback in a year?”

Former Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger is not high on the trajectory of the Baltimore Ravens. Despite being the Super Bowl favorites at the beginning of last season, the Ravens finished 8-9 and missed the playoffs.

Roethlisberger believes the Super Bowl window for the Ravens has closed.

“I think they’re falling apart. I don’t think they’re the same team…They just feel different. They feel like their window closed,” Roethlisberger said on his Footbahlin podcast. “To me, losing [John] Harbaugh, King Henry’s a year older, his body’s taking a beating, what’s was going on with Lamar last year? He just didn’t seem like the Lamar that we’ve been used to seeing”

The Cincinnati Bengals have the the firepower with quarterback Joe Burrow and star wide receivers Ja’Marr Chase and Tee Higgins, but there’s still major question marks with the defense. Cincinnati did bolster the unit this offseason, however, especially with trading for three-time Pro Bowl defensive tackle Dexter Lawrence.

It’s hard to argue that the Steelers have not completely mismanaged the quarterback position since Ben Roethlisberger retired following the 2021 season. The long-term answer at the position is still pending.

Mike McCarthy‘s offense is known to put up points, though. He also has a long history of developing quarterbacks.

Only time will tell if Aaron Rodgers can lead the Steelers to a second consecutive AFC North title. And if McCarthy can find and develop the next franchise quarterback.
