A favorite has already emerged to take over in Buffalo following Sean McDermott’s firing.

The Bills terminated McDermott on Monday, cutting ties with the 51-year-old coach after nine seasons together.

The Decision comes on the back of the team’s failure to advance to the AFC Championship in a defeat to the Denver Broncos on Saturday.

McDermott was left incensed by a controversial decision that led to a 33-30 overtime loss. While the Bills will feel hard done by, the questionable call hasn’t bought McDermott any time.

With Buffalo falling short of its Super Bowl ambitions yet again, the team is now set to move in a new direction. According to reports, they will retain general manager Brandon Beane.

Beane is expected to head the search for a new coach.

Meanwhile, The Athletic’s Dianna Russini is reporting that Josh Allen favorite Brian Daboll’s name has been coming up.

“Talking to NFL executives around the league about Buffalo’s next head coach options, the name that keeps coming up is a familiar one, a Buffalo native and someone Josh Allen loves: Brian Daboll,” Russini tweeted on Monday.

Brian Daboll Is A Very Familiar Face

A Buffalo native, Daboll was the Bills’ offensive coordinator from 2018 to 2021. The New York Giants hired him in 2022, and he won NFL Coach of the Year honors in his first year.

The 50-year-old lost his job in November after a 2-8 start to this season and is a top OC candidate in the current cycle. He is among the reported favorites for the Philadelphia Eagles vacancy following the dismissal of Kevin Patullo.

As for McDermott, he leaves the team with a 98-50 regular-season record and a postseason record of 8-8. He led Buffalo to two AFC Championship Games during his tenure, but they lost to the Kansas City Chiefs on both occasions.
