At 0-7, the New York Jets are enduring another lost season. Despite entering the year with a new head coach in Aaron Glenn and quarterback in Justin Fields, it’s been the same old Jets, and that’s led to trade speculation surrounding several players on the roster. However, one player says he received reassurance from the front office that he won’t be going anywhere.
Edge rusher Jermaine Johnson told ESPN’s Rich Cimini that he received “clarity” from the front office that he won’t be moved.
“I’m definitely wanted here, and I want to stay here,” Johnson told ESPN. “That’s been understood.”
Johnson even posted on X earlier this week a “The Wolf of Wall Street” GIF where Leonardo DiCaprio’s character yells, “I’m not leaving!”

“Hence the tweet,” the edge rusher said.
Johnson, who made the Pro Bowl in 2023, has one sack, one tackle for loss, two quarterback hits and 16 tackles in four games this season after an ankle injury sidelined him for three weeks. He missed 15 games last year after tearing his Achilles.
The Jets selected Johnson with the 26th overall pick of the 2022 NFL Draft and picked up his fifth-year option worth $13.4 million for 2026. Across 37 games in four seasons, Johnson has recorded 11 sacks, eight pass deflections, one forced fumble, one fumble recovery, 16 tackles for loss, 23 quarterback hits and 104 tackles.
Even though Johnson received word he’s staying put, trade rumors continue swirling around running back Breece Hall, linebacker Quincy Williams, defensive end Will McDonald and wide receiver Allen Lazard.
