Former New York Jets general manager Joe Douglas has landed on his feet.

He didn’t spend much time away from the game, and he’s now returning to a winning situation.

According to a report by The Philadelphia Inquirer, Douglas will be back with the Philadelphia Eagles in a senior scouting role.

“The Eagles are hiring former Jets GM Joe Douglas, bringing him back to Philadelphia to rejoin Howie Roseman’s front office, where he previously worked from 2016 to 2019, per Jeff McLane,” Ari Meirov of The 33rd Team wrote on X.

Douglas was the Eagles’ vice president of player personnel and was an instrumental piece in putting together the first Super Bowl-winning team in franchise history.

After a successful stint alongside Roseman, the Jets hired him to be their general manager.

He spent six seasons with the Jets but failed to replicate that success.

The Jets were 32-68 with Douglas and failed to post a winning season or playoff appearance.

That led to his firing after Week 11 last season.

The 48-year-old started his career as a scout for the Baltimore Ravens, helping them win two Super Bowls in 14 years with the organization.

He later joined the Chicago Bears in 2015 to serve as their director of college scouting before joining the Eagles.

The Las Vegas Raiders hired a couple of key contributors from the Eagles’ scouting department this offseason, and Douglas will be in Philadelphia to alleviate some of that burden.

Things didn’t work out for him in New York, but after everything that transpired there, it’s hard not to give him the benefit of the doubt.
