The New England Patriots can avenge the New York Giants on Tommy DeVito’s behalf this Monday.

DeVito emerged as a fan favorite when playing for the Giants as an undrafted rookie in 2023, but they released the New Jersey native before the 2025 campaign. The quarterback has spent the season on New England’s practice squad as an emergency third-string quarterback.

Barring injuries to Drake Maye and Joshua Dobbs, DeVito won’t suit up against his former team on “Monday Night Football.” While he expressed no hard feelings toward the Giants organization, via MassLive’s Karen Guregian, the 27-year-old is naturally rooting for a Patriots win.

“I loved my time there,” DeVito said. “When I was there, it was, ‘Go Giants,’ but now it’s ‘Go Pats’ all the way. I hope we blow them out.”

The 10-2 Patriots are 7.5-point favorites to defeat the 2-10 Giants, but DeVito may not see a lopsided triumph. New England has notched three of its last four wins by six points or fewer, and New York has dropped its previous three games by a combined 18 points.

DeVito was momentarily the toast of the tri-state area when he led the Giants to three straight wins — including a 10-7 victory over the Patriots — in 2023. He retreated to a backup role but completed 31 of 44 passes in three appearances last season.

The Giants made DeVito expendable by signing veteran quarterbacks Russell Wilson and Jameis Winston before drafting Jaxson Dart in the first round. Dart was cleared from concussion protocol and will start Monday night’s game at Gillette Stadium.
