After starting 11 games for the Chargers in 2024, J.K. Dobbins is taking his first reported visit as a free agent to the Broncos on Thursday.
Despite rushing for a career high in yardage in his first season with the Chargers, J.K. Dobbins was not re-signed by the team before they went out and added two new running backs to reshape the backfield entirely.
Eventually, however, the Chargers used the UFA on Dobbins which means if he were to sign with a team ahead of the July 22 deadline, he would potentially become a Compensatory Free Agent lost by the Chargers and gained by his new team.
In 13 total games played in 2024, Dobbins rushed for a career-high 908 yards and scored nine touchdowns. He was by far the best runner for the Chargers last season but he ultimately missed four games and the inefficiency of the interior offensive line curtailed what was a very hot start through his first two games of the year (266 total rushing yards).
Itโs never fun to see a former Charger go play with one of the other AFC West teams, but Dobbins was nothing but a bright spot in the locker room and itโs going to be hard not to wish him success after all the injuries heโs been through so far in his career.
