Joey Bosa spent nine years with the Chargers but now extends his career with a one-year deal to join the Buffalo Bills.

On Tuesday evening, news finally broke about Joey Bosa’s NFL future.

Per NFL insider Ian Rapoport, the former Chargers edge rusher is signing a one-year, $15.6 million deal with $12 million guaranteed. According to other reports, the Bills managed to out-bid both the 49ers and Dolphins which were the two teams with the highest expected chance to win over the former first-round pick.

This past season, Bosa played in 14 games (with nine starts), the most he’d managed to play in since the 2021 season. Despite missing just three games, Bosa managed just five sacks and five tackles for loss, the least he’s had when playing at least nine games.

Since signing a massive contract prior to the 2020 season, Bosa had only managed to record double-digit sacks (2021) or tackles for loss (2020) just once. As far as availability went, Bosa never managed to stay healthy for an entire 17-game season once the league switched to the longer schedule ahead of the 2021 campaign. With 28 games played (out of 33) through the 2020 and 2021 seasons, he managed just 28 from 2022 through 2024.

In the end, Bosa’s value to the team whittled slowly but surely until his contract greatly outpaced his ability to make an impact for the Chargers. Now that’s not to say he wasn’t able to help sway the outcome of games when healthy and on the field, but those instances became few and far in between.

Nonetheless, we wish Bosa nothing but the best and he hopes to rekindle a final spark through this next chapter of his career in Buffalo.

Best of luck, Joey!
