Monday night during the Miami Dolphins game against the New York Jets, wide receiver Tyreek Hill suffered one of the more gruesome injuries ever seen in the NFL. He ended up suffering a dislocated knee and multiple torn ligaments. It was devastating news for one of the best wideouts in the game. It was also “karma,” according to former Pro Bowl defensive back Aqib Talib.

Talib, who played 12 years in the NFL and won Super Bowl 50 while with the Denver Broncos, made the stunning statement about Tyreek Hill on Tuesday’s episode of The Arena: Gridiron podcast. The comment came after the other panelists, Gerald McCoy, Richie Incognito, and Skip Bayless, talked about how the loss of Hill would be tough for the Dolphins to overcome.

“I feel the same y’all felt about it. I actually thought Tyreek was playing good, playing well, and on his way out they was going to trade him. He was going to go to a contender. I’ve been pushing for it. Like, he’s going to go to a contender and, you know, compete for another Super Bowl and and be able to retire on a high note. You know what I’m saying?” Aqib Talib began.

“But hey, I always say it, these football gods don’t play no games. You know what I’m saying? They do not play games. They don’t make no mistakes. You got allegations of of beating your wife. Hey, that s— is real. I don’t play like that. I’ll be off this show, somebody, if I get a call right now about somebody beating on sister, wife, daughter, any one of them. You know what I’m saying? So, I don’t really play like that. And football guys, they brutal. They don’t make no mistakes, man.

“It’s karma, man,” Talib continued. “Hey, man. Hey, you seen that tackle happen a thousand times? Thousand times. He snap his whole leg in half. Then to be 32 by next year, next year he’ll be 32 when the season starts. You make your money on speed. That might be the last we see of Tyreek Hill. Honestly, that might really be the last we see of Tyreek Hill, man. When you hang your hat on speed and then you lose a step, it’s over. You know what I’m saying? He can’t lose a step. Or he not Tyreek Hill no more. So I hate to see it, man. But hey, I’m a firm believer in them football guys. Your a– better be living right.”

Allegations of domestic abuse

Last month, Tyreek Hill’s estranged wife Keeta Vaccaro, the sister of former NFL safety Kenny Vaccaro, made eight claims of domestic violence against Hill, including while she was pregnant with the couple’s child. She called his behavior “outrageous, beyond all bounds of decency, and is regarded as atrocious and utterly intolerable in a civilized community.”

Hill’s attorney denied the allegations, calling them “further proof that Ms. Vacarro and/or her counsel are set on partaking...
