Baker Mayfield delivered a Week 18 win vs. the Panthers. It was enough to keep their season alive for at least 24 hours. It came with controversy as refs admitted to screwing over the Panthers in that contest.
Either way, the Bucs still needed something to happen on Sunday to get into the postseason. Now, they will need help from the New Orleans Saints to make it into the postseason.
Mayfield is certainly looking on during that game. Footage from his home showed how stressed out he looked, hoping to see the Saints do his team a huge favor.

The Buccaneers need the Falcons to lose to the Saints to avoid a three-way tie atop the NFC South. That would allow the Panthers to backdoor their way into the playoffs. Tampa Bay has an estimated 40% chance of making the playoffs, according to NFL Next Gen Stats.
In short, Tampa Bay couldn’t simply win and get into the postseason. Todd Bowles’ squad sported a 6-2 record entering its Week 9 bye. Baker Mayfield was in the early-season MVP talk.
But after going 1-7 out of the bye, the Buccaneers need help, and the Saints hold their destiny.
