The latest Bears Banter has dropped!
The podcast is out a little later this week. I was out of town for a couple of days at the beginning of the week, which delayed the release, but there was plenty to discuss after that Cowboys game.
We discuss Caleb Williams and Ben Johnson’s dismantling of Matt Eberflus’ defense, comparing how Johnson leads vs how Eberflus led, we officially put the final nail in the Eberflus coffin and officially put that conversation to bed, and of course, we talk about Williams’ elite performance against Dallas.
To get you ready for the game this weekend against the Las Vegas Raiders, we sit down with Yahoo Sports’ Jason Fitz. Jason covers the NFL at a national level, but is also a huge Raiders fan and follows the team closely.
Jason discussed Pete Carroll, Geno Smith, Ashton Jeanty, and the Raiders organization, but he had some really interesting comments about the Raiders’ offseason pursuit of Ben Johnson.
“I talked to local reporters, I talked to national reporters that cover just that team, I talked to people that I thought were well plugged-in in the organization, I don’t know how this has happened, but I think this is real, I think Ben’s going to come here, it must be Brady,” Fitz explained. “It’s like a game of telephone, nobody can figure out where it came from, but everybody was like, ‘where there’s smoke, there must be fire.‘ People in the inner circles of the Raiders really thought it was going to happen, and it didn’t. But I think Ben Johnson made the right decision, for a million different reasons.”
