A release date for the film hasn’t been announed yet. The project also stars John Mulaney as EA Sports founder Trip Hawkins, Sienna Miller as Carol Davis and Kathryn Hahn as Virginia Madden.

Nicolas Cage emerged as one of Hollywood’s top action movie stars in the ’90s, namely for his roles in “Face/Off” with John Travolta, “Con Air” and “The Rock” with Sean Connery and Ed Harris.

In recent years, the 61-year-old Cage has chosen to primarily work on low-budget films. Given his unique acting style and over-the-top delivery, it’ll be interesting to see how he fares as John Madden.

John Madden Is One Of The Most Pivotal Figures In NFL History

Madden was a standout offensive tackle at Cal Poly and was drafted by the Philadelphia Eagles in 1958. Unfortunately, a serious knee injury forced him to retire before playing a single NFL snap.

But Madden forever changed the NFL landscape in three different ways: Firstly, as a Hall of Fame coach for the Raiders (1969 to 1978) who led the organization to its first Super Bowl championship in the 1976 season.

Madden was also the top NFL TV analyst during his broadcasting career, working primarily alongside Pat Summerall. And of course, his hand in the legendary “Madden” series changed the sports video game world forever.
