PITTSBURGH — New Pittsburgh Steelers cornerback Asante Samuel Jr. took part in his first practice with the team on Wednesday, after signing a contract with the team on Tuesday.
Samuel signed with the Steelers after a long recovery from offseason neck surgery, but got right into the swing of things with his first practice, wearing No. 22 and working with the team’s outside cornerbacks and coach Anthony Midget at UPMC Rooney Sports Complex.
The Steelers are thin at cornerback, after having moved Jalen Ramsey to safety, and with Darius Slay in the concussion protocol, so there is a chance Samuel, who is signed to the practice squad, could play this Sunday against the Cincinnati Bengals.
