In the New York Jets’ third and final game of the 2025 preseason, on a balmy evening in East Rutherford, New Jersey, the Jets lost to the Philadelphia Eagles, 19 – 17.

The first half saw the Jets offense struggle mightily on the way to a 6 -3 deficit at halftime.

The Jets opened the third quarter on defense and quickly forced a three and out by the Eagles. Jamal Pritchett then had a big 38 yard punt return to give the Jets offense the ball inside Eagles territory. However, Adrian Martinez nearly threw an interception, the Jets were unable to move the ball, and Harrison Mevis missed a 55 yard field goal attempt badly as the score remained Eagles 6, Jets 3.

Midway through the third quarter the Eagles put together a nine play, 55 yard drive culminating in a Montrell Johnson 15 yard touchdown run and a 13 – 3 Eagles lead.

On the ensuing Jets drive Adrian Martinez fumbled and the Eagles recovered, giving the Eagles the ball deep in Jets territory. A few plays later Jake Elliott hit a short field goal to give the Eagles a 16 – 3 lead late in the third quarter.

On the first play of the next Jets drive Adrian Martinez threw a terrible interception as his chances of making the team seemingly slipped away. The Eagles took over inside the Jets 40 yard line with time winding down in the third quarter. A few plays later the Eagles kicked another field goal to take a 19 – 3 lead early in the fourth quarter.

The Jets came back with a long drive highlighted by a couple of nifty catch and run plays by Jamal Pritchett. Lawrance Toafili capped the drive with a 19 yard touchdown run. Adrian Martinez followed with a two point conversion and the Jets pulled to within eight points at 19 – 11 with a little more than nine minutes left in the fourth quarter.

After the Jets shut the Eagles offense down, they took over on offense and Adrian Martinez led a long Jets drive highlighted by another nifty Jamal Pritchett catch and run. Donovan Edwards took the ball in for a one yard touchdown run and the Jets pulled to within two points at Eagles 19, Jets 17. A two point conversion attempt by Donovan Edwards fell just short and the Jets trailed by two points with just over three minutes to play.

The Jets again shut down the Eagles offense and the Eagles punted from inside their own 20 yard line. A long Jamal Pritchett punt return and a short Pritchett reception got the Jets to the Eagles 44 yard line at the two minute warning. Another ten or so yards and the Jets would be in position to win the game. Alas, the Jets gained just two more yards. They turned the ball over on downs and the Eagles ran out the clock for a 19 – 17 victory over the Jets....
