FIFA Undermines Jerry Jones With Sun-Blocking Curtains For World Cup Soccer Match At AT&T Stadium

Japan and Sweden played to a 1-1 draw at AT&T Stadium (Arlington Stadium lol) in Texas with zero issues from glare because of curtains. FIFA and the City of Arlington agreed to undermine Jerry Jones at the World Cup.

They solved a simple issue that the owner of the Dallas Cowboys refuses to fix.

Meanwhile, the World Cup did not have the same problem. Sun was not allowed through the windows!

Jerry Jones will not prevent the glare for Dallas Cowboys games.

This problem first came to exist more than 15 years ago when the Dallas Cowboys played their first preseason game at AT&T Stadium against the Tennessee Titans on Aug. 21, 2009. It continues to exist today. Jerry Jones won’t do anything about it.

There are multiple sets of large windows beyond the west end zone of the stadium. Seeing the windows are is located on the western side of the stadium, and the sun sets in the west, the sun often creates a brutal glare in the late afternoon. It typically reaches the field during the second half. Here is a good example:

Players cannot see when they are facing in that direction. The glare is brutal on the eyes.

In fact, CeeDee Lamb was unable to catch a wide-open touchdown during a blowout loss to the Eagles in 2024 because the sun quite literally blinded his eyes. The wide receiver said during his postgame press conference that he would love if curtains (that are already there) were installed to block the light. He was not the first player to have this problem. Nor was he the last.

This late-afternoon sun glare shows up during every single home game that kicks off at 3:05 or 3:25 in Arlington. Not only does Jones refuse to do anything about it — even though it directly impacts his players — he repeatedly shoots down the idea when asked about it.

His stance would make sense if a multi-million dollar construction project was needed to solve the issue. I would completely understand if Jones didn’t want to install curtains because it required him to tear down the windows or something like that.

But that is very much not the case!

The curtains at AT&T Stadium are already installed.

AT&T Stadium blocked the sun with large blackout curtains for the boxing match between Jake Paul and Mike Tyson in 2024. Ironically, that fight took place just a few days after Lamb dropped the touchdown.

Now fast forward to Thursday night. Sweden played Japan in the World Cup. The soccer game was held at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas. Kick off was scheduled for 6:00 p.m. CT. The sun sets in Dallas around 8:30 at this time of year.

Therefore, the sun glare was going to be an issue if FIFA and the City of Arlington (which owns the stadium) did not agree to use the curtains during any game played with the sun located in the western sky.

It is such...
