One reporter is under fire for her actions during Liam Coen’s postgame press conference.
Coen, the head coach of the Jacksonville Jaguars, watched his team lose 27-24 to the Buffalo Bills in the Wild Card round on Sunday.
The 40-year-old cut a somber figure while speaking to the media. However, one reporter encouraged him to keep his head up following the great job he’s done so far.
“You hold your head up, alright? You guys have had a most magnificent season. You did a great job out there today. So you just hold your head up, OK?” she said.
“Keep it up, you’ve got another season.”
The reporter in question is 20-year veteran Lynn Jones of the Jacksonville Free Press.
Some thought Jones’ words were heartwarming, but some members of the media have been critical.
“Very nice, but completely inappropriate in this setting as credentialed media. I assure you she was spoken to. Which is actually sad,” one said.

“look, it’s a kind sentiment, but it’s not the job of a reporter to console a coach in a postgame press conference,” another declared. “Pressers are to ask questions to gain a better understanding of what happened or figure out what’s next — and do it in a limited amount of time.”
The Jaguars finished the 2025 NFL season with a 13-4 record that saw them top the AFC South. However, they exited the playoffs at the first opportunity despite an immense effort.
Bills quarterback Josh Allen scored the winning touchdown late in the fourth quarter to leave Jacksonville in heartbreak.
Perhaps it’s why Jones felt the need to briefly switch to her fan hat. But her decision doesn’t seem to have gone down well with other reporters.
