Fantasy Football Week 4 roster stashes and bye week anticipation
Hogs Haven Hogs Haven

Welcome back for another round of fantasy football ramblings. In this week’s edition: Stashes and Bye Week Anticipation. This column went silent in Week 2 for a pair of reasons: 1. The waiver wire was very shallow in Week 2; and, candidly, 2. your favorite Chicagoland Washington fan had a busy week at work!

But before its (triumphant?) return—first, some accountability. Any advice giver worth their salt at least attempts to review whether or not the advice they’ve given has panned out – if for no other reason than that if nothing I’ve written works out, that should be its own signal as to how to best use my ramblings!

Even the best of prognosticators will not get it right every time, to say nothing of those who are charitably less than the best with a crystal ball. (For example, after a 162-110 record against the spread in 2024 that had your fearless author boasting of finishing 455th nationally in ESPN’s “Pigskin Pick’Em,” your fearless author is off to a far less auspicious 20-27 start against the spread in 2025!)

So here’s a quick look at how the last set of players to appear in this column fared:

Geno Smith – 5/10. If you picked up Geno after Week 1, you got a 0 TD/3 INT dud in Week 2. But if you had the patience to stick through that, you got the inverse with a 3 TD performance in Week 3.

Dylan Sampson – 1/10. Sampson’s performance in the opener was worth a flier, but he’s been surpassed by Quinshon Judkins since.

Tyler Allgeier – 4/10. Allgeier has without much fanfare put up borderline flex numbers, sitting as the #36 RB year to date. But the problem remains the situation in front of him. It’s not just that Bijan Robinson is the clear starter, but Allgeier was out-carried by a second Atlanta RB in Week 3. The talent is there, but the opportunity less so.

Hollywood Brown – 4/10. Not a complete bust, but Tyquan Thornton seems to be getting more looks in Kansas City after two weeks of Xavier Worthy-less offense.

Quentin Johnson -10/10. The #4 receiver in standard scoring has continued to soar, with 17 targets in two weeks resulting in 160 yards and a score.

Joshua Palmer – 3/10. Week 1 turned out to be his high mark in scoring for the season so far. The Bills offense provides scoring chances, but there are too many other mouths too feed.

Calvin Austin III – 6/10. Not league winning production, but WR26 year-to-date is reasonable production from a waiver add.

Kayshon Boutte – 5/10. About the same amount of production in Weeks 2 and 3 combined as he had in Week 1, but still being targeted so there is hope.

Wan’Dale Robinson – 8/10. An ugly Week 3 brings his stock back down a bit, but anyone adding him after Week 1 got a 20-point explosion the following week. There’s also a QB change coming in...
