Giants fans send a message to John Mara

It’s safe to say that New York Giants fans are disgusted with their team — or at least a highly-motivated and vocal subset of Giants fans are.

They sent their message to the Giants via a banner being towed by a plane flying over MetLife stadium prior to the Giants’ game against the New Orleans Saints.

That banner has a message to John Mara, imploring him to fix the “dumpster fire” that the Giants have become.

Fan frustration has simmered — and at times more than that — over a decade of dysfunction which has seen the Giants finish with a winning season just twice. The Giants were the first team mathematically eliminated from the playoffs, which once again happened before December 1. But for the first time, the Giants feel like a truly rudderless ship, with no long-term answer at quarterback and a roster ravaged by injury.

And so fans are publicly airing their frustration with the team — quite literally in this case.

Ownership seemingly responded to the vocal fan backlash following the benching of Eli Manning in another lost and injury plagued season. John Mara — and Steve Tisch — know the team is in dire straits, and they want this team to win at least as much as the fans do. We know they’ll take steps to (try to) fix the team, but it remains to be seen what steps they’ll take.

Fans hav escalated their complaints, and we’ll see if ownership takes more drastic action in response.
