Fans flip-flop back into believing in the direction of the Bears franchise

Before Week 1, your confidence that the Chicago Bears franchise was heading in the right direction was 85%. The high from hiring Ben Johnson was still fresh, and the thought of him developing Calab Williams was exciting to many of us. On paper, the Bears had a successful free agency period and NFL Draft, and the buzz of camp and preseason had many of us hyped for the start of the 2025 season.

However, on the heels of the season-opening Monday night loss to the Minnesota Vikings, the confidence survey came back at just 48%.

I get it.

Losing to a division rival that way was painful.

Then, after the Chicago Bears fell to 0-2 following that devastating loss to the Detroit Lions, only 23% of you were confident in the direction of the franchise. That survey also came while the Ryan Poles discourse started to turn sour. I do get the natural ebb and flow of our weekly survey going with wins and losses, but 23% is a drastic drop from the 85% of you who were confident before the year started.

Were that many of you already out of Ben Johnson?

If so, welcome back, because all it took was a win against the Dallas Cowboys to bring that number back to preseason levels (+2% more).

Ben Johnson is the real deal, so I hope our fans can stick around this same confidence ballpark no matter what happens on Sunday. There will be some more losses and certainly some adversity that he and the team will need to overcome, but Johnson and Caleb Williams give this franchise a legitimate chance to be good.
