Here are our thoughts on the best Jaguars “win totals” bets to wager.
Most Jaguars fans are surely tired of drinking the teal Kool-Aid every summer. In Jacksonville, the regular season rarely meets the hype of the preceding offseason.
But on top of what was among the most influential offseasons in franchise history — cleaning house, hiring a new regime, and drafting two-way phenom Travis Hunter, among other moves — the Jaguars are set to improve from last year’s 4-13 record according to The Data.
As ESPN’s Bill Barnwell outlined in his recent article, Predicting NFL teams most likely to improve in the 2025 season, Jacksonville should see some stats regress positively to the mean.
It was a 2024 season of losing coin flips for the Jags, who had 13 of their 17 games decided by seven or fewer points. They went 1-3 and were outscored by a combined 86 points in the four games that weren’t one-score contests, which doesn’t exactly speak highly of what former coach Doug Pederson cooked up, but they were unlucky to finish with just four wins.
Jacksonville forced a league-low nine takeaways. Teams can win games on the strength of multi-takeaway performances, and the Jags were a historic outlier there. Ryan Nielsen’s defense had one game with two or more turnovers, just the second time that has happened since 1970 … They forced only five fumbles on defense, which is tied for the third-lowest total from any team over the past decade. Takeaways help the defense and create short fields for your offense; the Jags had the league’s worst average starting field position when they took over last season, which made life harder for a unit that was prone to making drive-altering mistakes.
Considering the team’s poor ‘luck’ in one-score games and defensive turnovers, the expectation that Trevor Lawrence and others will be healthier, and the fact that the AFC South remains a weak division, Jacksonville is a strong on-paper bet to make a jump in 2025.
FanDuel also has alternative lines available for team win totals. If you’re very high on the 2025 Jaguars, consider over 10.5 wins (+420); if you’re very low on them, consider under 5.5 wins (+280).
