The Atlanta Falcons are in a precarious position entering the 2025 NFL season. Hope abounds for young quarterback Michael Penix Jr. and the high-end play he can bring to the offense. Drake London and Darnell Mooney established themselves as a phenomenal wide receiver duo in 2024. The offensive line was awesome last season—we’ll see just how long Kaleb McGary is expected to be out after his injury during Wednesday’s practice. Hell, even the defense looks solid through training camp and the preseason!
All that being said, there’s still a healthy amount of skepticism surrounding the Falcons. For one, this team hasn’t reached a winning record or the playoffs since 2017. For those keeping track, that’s seven seasons without more than eight wins or a postseason berth. Even in a division as consistently mediocre-to-bad as the NFC South, the Falcons can’t seem to get past the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Raheem Morris and Terry Fontenot also face significant questions heading into 2025. But perhaps this is the year Atlanta breaks the streak and ascends to the long lost postseason?
The win total over/under for the Falcons currently sits at 8.5, with FanDuel Sportsbook listing the over at +110 and the under at -130. Reading those odds, it appears that Vegas expects Atlanta to once again fall short of a winning record and the playoffs with an 8-9 record. That would undoubtedly disappoint pretty much any Falcons fan and put Atlanta in a horrible position heading into 2026, having given away a likely top-15 pick to the Los Angeles Rams.
Those odds could adjust more depending on the McGary injury, which we’ll hope to hear about soon. What are your thoughts on the Falcons’ win total over/under of 8.5? I personally still expect the team to hover around 10 wins, so plus money on over 8.5 seems like a great bet to me. I’m also an optimist, and I certainly wouldn’t begrudge you if you choose to never trust this team.
