New England Patriots - NESN.com
The Patriots are looking to extend their winning streak to six games as they take on the Falcons this Sunday. However, New England will need to step up their game, as Atlanta is welcoming back a key player.
Falcons quarterback Michael Penix Jr., who missed last week’s game due to a knee injury, has been removed from the injury report and is expected to start against New England.
Penix has thrown for 1,409 yards and five touchdowns to three interceptions in six games this season.
Patriots fans should remember Penix’s name well, as he was one of the quarterbacks New England could’ve taken during the 2024 NFL Draft.
New England undoubtedly picked Drake Maye with the third overall selection, while the Falcons chose Penix five picks later.
The Falcons started veteran quarterback Kirk Cousins last week against the Dolphins, and the result was not favorable. Cousins threw for 173 yards against a shaky Miami defense, losing the game 34-10.
Atlanta currently has a record of 3-4, but it secured a victory against the Buffalo Bills in Week 6, showing its ability to compete with strong teams. The Patriots will need to stay alert when facing them.
