The Atlanta Falcons have quietly assembled one of the best young cores in all of football on the offensive side, and this offseason they have spent big to keep those guys around with lucrative contract extensions.
Both Kyle Pitts and Drake London, the two best pass-catchers in Atlanta, have both gotten long-term deals that will keep them with the Falcons for years to come. Star running back Bijan Robinson is next up to get a deal in Atlanta, and many Falcons fans would like that to get done before the end of the offseason.
They may just get their wish. On Wednesday, Falcons reporter Marc Raimondi wrote that an extension is expected to get done soon.
“The Falcons have already extended wide receiver Drake London and tight end Kyle Pitts Sr. this offseason. Robinson is next on the priority list, as conversations between the team and his representatives are ongoing,” Raimondi wrote. “Robinson still has his fourth year coming up and his fifth-year option (which Atlanta picked up) in 2027. But all indications are that the Falcons and their star RB will come to an agreement well before that, perhaps even soon.”
Robinson is arguably the best running back in all of football and will likely command a big number on his next contract extension. He and Lions star Jahmyr Gibbs are both extension-eligible this offseason, so who signs first will be something to watch.
Even if these talks drag out, the former Texas star is still under contract with the Falcons for two more seasons after they picked up his fifth-year option, so there is plenty of time to get something done.
Last season, Robinson carried the ball 287 times for 1,478 yards and seven touchdowns. He was named First Team All-Pro and garnered serious consideration as an Offensive Player of the Year candidate, and he should have even more of that coming in 2026. If the Falcons can’t sign him to an extension before the 2026 season, that deal is only going to get bigger and bigger as he continues to tear up defenses.
