Injuries are piling up along the offensive line, with Storm Norton still not back and both Chris Lindstrom and Matthew Bergeron exiting the Week 9 game against the New England Patriots. Given that, it’s not a huge surprise to see Atlanta adding an offensive lineman to the roster.
It is a bit surprising that it’s not a promoted practice squad player, but it is a familiar face. Andrew Stueber had joined Atlanta in June 2024, stuck around through final cuts, and then landed on the Falcons practice squad. In early October of last year, the Bengals poached him off the practice squad and he appeared in seven games for them; he was among their final cuts in August of this year.
Stueber is unlikely to play this weekend, but the Falcons liked him enough to carry him on the practice squad not all that long ago, so it’s no great stunner they’d like another look here. Stueber will be a break glass in case of emergency option in the short-term with a chance to push his way into the conversation over time if injuries persist; at the moment I’d expect any guard injuries to result in Kyle Hinton and Jovaughn Gwyn getting time in the game, in that order. If Norton returns, Elijah Wilkinson, Mike Jerrell, and Stueber will all be in the mix there; chances are good one of them will be ticketed for the practice squad once the Storm is back.
Give him a warm welcome, and we’ll hope (no offense) that he doesn’t have to get in a game.
