Atlanta Falcons head coach Raheem Morris quickly learned that lining up against Drake London in practice is not a good idea after getting shoved to the ground rather easily.
Morris is far removed from his days as a safety, when he played at Hofstra University between 1994 and 1997. Now 48, he’s in his second season as a head coach, bringing over two decades of coaching experience with him.
While he’s still in great shape, he’s no spring chicken, especially when compared to members of his roster. The second-year head coach proved to be no match for the aforementioned wide receiver after matching up against him in a drill in practice on Monday.
The clip below shows footage from FOX 5 Atlanta. In it, Morris is seen fronting London, who perhaps took the drill more seriously than expected, and easily drives his coach into the ground.
Then again, it was an opportunity to take a free shot at a coach, so he was probably taking advantage.
Morris found the whole thing funny. He was seen laughing while picking himself up from the ground, lining up against Ray-Ray McCloud, playfully mouthing off at London, and flipping the bird.
Morris replaced Arthur Smith as the team’s head coach ahead of the 2024 season and led them to an 8-9 record, which was not enough to earn a playoff berth.
He is expected to play second-year quarterback Michael Penix Jr. as a starter after going with veteran Kirk Cousins last season.
As for London, the wideout enjoyed a career year in 2024, making 100 catches for 1,271 yards and nine touchdowns, finishing behind only Ja’Marr Chase, Justin Jefferson, and Brian Thomas in receiving yards.
Atlanta will play the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in a preseason fixture this Friday.
