Three games left, and this is the most straightforward matchup remaining.
The Atlanta Falcons just switched to Michael Penix as their starting quarterback, placed Younghoe Koo on injured reserve, and are clearly targeting those shakeups helping to push them into the postseason. That begins with a game against the New York Giants.
The Giants are one of a small handful of teams set to vie for the first overall pick in this draft, and that’s both because they’re lousy and dealing with injuries. They cut Daniel Jones, their quarterback situation is terrible, and stars like Dexter Lawrence and Azeez Ojulari are on the shelf. They’re playing out the string, hoping to get a better quarterback and build the roster back up, and be relevant again in a tough NFC East.
The Falcons are hoping to earn a win here, and more than that, show that Kirk Cousins’ struggles have been weighing the team down. A victory here to move to 8-7, exceeding the team’s win total over the past several seasons, would be a good steep, especially if they can handle the Giants better than they handled the Raiders. Let’s hope they get there.
We’ll round up all our coverage from Week 16’s game right here, so keep it open for a feed of every story, live thread, and recap from Falcons-Giants.
