The Atlanta Falcons have fired head coach Raheem Morris, according to Adam Schefter of ESPN. Morris led the Falcons to 8-9 seasons in each of his two years as Atlanta’s head coach.
Schefter notes that wide receiver Drake London and running back Bijan Robinson were among the Falcons players who openly said after Sunday’s game that they want Raheem Morris to stay. But Atlanta made the decision to move on and will be looking for a new head coach once again.
Atlanta has had eight consecutive losing seasons.

Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin declared on The Pivot in 2022 that Morris deserved to be a head coach in the NFL. Morris, who was a prodigy of Tomlin during his time in Tampa Bay, was coming off a Super Bowl championship as the Los Angeles Rams defensive coordinator at the time.
“I know that some of the guys being denied are in the top 32. Raheem Morris is the best coach that I know and have been around that don’t have a head job. I don’t have a problem saying it, and I have never had a problem saying it,” Tomlin said.
With Tomlin and Morris having a close relationship, Morris is a name to look out for if the Steelers part ways with defensive coordinator Teryl Austin.
Of course, that’s if Tomlin returns for a 20th season as the Steelers’ head coach. Multiple reports state that the Steelers will not fire Tomlin, but there’s some speculation that he could decide to step down, possibly pivoting to a career in the media.
