Another uneven offensive performance has left the Falcons searching for answers. They were outworked, outcoached, and out-executed against a decimated 49ers team. The offense was lethargic as a whole, from the play calling to the lack of urgency to blocking up front. The mental errors Michael Penix Jr. made in pivotal situations didn’t help matters either. What was most glaring was how defenses are sitting on what the Falcons are running and don’t feel threatened by a play getting behind them.
Ray-Ray McCloud’s departure leaves them light at the wide receiver position. They have received minimal production from Casey Washington and David Sills, who are capable blockers at best. It has forced Bijan Robinson to line up more as a wide receiver, which adds an intriguing dimension to the passing game. There is risk in using a running back 15 to 20 times a game out wide or in the slot, like they have done in the past two weeks.
That raises the question of acquiring a wide receiver before the trade deadline. Do you believe they should trade for a capable explosive threat? Are you confident in the direction of this team? Let us know below.
