The NFL came down hard on the Atlanta Falcons and defensive coordinator Jeff Ulbrich after his son prank called Shedeur Sanders during the 2025 NFL Draft.

Ulbrich’s son, Jax, used his dad’s iPad to get Sanders’ phone number. Another young man in the video pretended to be New Orleans Saints general manager Mickey Loomis and told Sanders he was about to be drafted by the franchise.

Now, Jeff is finally breaking his silence on the matter after his son cost him six figures.

This week, Atlanta Falcons defensive coordinator Jeff Ulbrich is expressing his remorse for his son’s actions toward Shedeur Sanders.

“First of all, I’d like to publicly apologize to Shadeur and the Sanders family for what occurred,” Ulbrich said in a statement at the start of a press conference.

“Second of all, I want to publicly apologize to Mr. Blank, Terry Fontenot, Raheem Morris, and the entire Falcons organization. My actions in not protecting confidential data were inexcusable. My son’s actions were absolutely inexcusable and for that we are both deeply sorry. The NFL has taken action and I full respect the punishment. We take full responsibility — my son and myself — and we will not appeal the fine in any way. Going forward, I promise my son and I will work hard to demonstrate we are better than this.”

Jeff Ulbrich And The Falcons Fined Over Shedeur Sanders’ Prank Call

The NFL has fined the Falcons $250,000 and defensive coordinator Jeff Ulbrich $100,000 for the Shedeur Sanders NFL draft prank his son committed.

Jax and a friend recorded themselves calling Sanders over the weekend, claiming to be Saints GM Mickey Loomis. They told the former Colorado star the franchise was ready to draft him.

As we all saw, that never happened.

Sanders was on a Live Stream at the time, and that prank call was witnessed in real time. It further added to the embarrassment that came with dropping from a top prospect to the fifth round, where the Browns selected him with pick No. 144.

Video ultimately emerged of Jax and his friend, and he was quickly identified.

Jax came in contact with Shedeur’s number off an open iPad while visiting his parents’ home.

Now, he has to live with the fact that his actions cost his father and the family six figures.
