The Atlanta Falcons are coming off an early Week 5 bye after a 2-2 start to the 2025 NFL season. After a week of rest and hopefully intense study on offense and defense, we’ve all been hoping for some positive developments on the injury front. Thankfully, we received some great news from Falcons head coach Raheem Morris on Tuesday afternoon regarding the status of several injured players.

Cornerback A.J. Terrell is expected to return to practice in Week 6 in preparation for the team’s upcoming Monday Night Football matchup with the Buffalo Bills. Defensive lineman Ta’Quon Graham, who was placed on IR heading into the season, is also expected to return and had his 21-day return to practice window opened.

Terrell is a major boost to an undermanned Falcons secondary. He’s been Atlanta’s best corner for the past several years and gives the team a much better matchup option against the top Bills receivers, whether that’s Keon Coleman or Khalil Shakir. Dee Alford, who stepped in for Terrell in the second half of Week 2, has filled in admirably but was victimized repeatedly by Deebo Samuel against the Commanders in Week 4. Terrell’s status for the game is likely to be a game time decision, but he’s trending in a very positive direction after missing the past two games.

Meanwhile, the other area of the Falcons defense most in need of reinforcement has been the run defense. Ta’Quon Graham has historically been one of Atlanta’s best option against opposing ground games, and his return in the near future should bolster the interior against a string of tough opponents in the coming weeks. We’ll see if he can return in Week 6, but the fact that his return to play window has been opened is a good sign for his availability.

Notably, there was no update today on the status of the other Falcons players who are now eligible to be activated off IR: offensive tackle Storm Norton and edge rusher Bralen Trice. Troy Andersen, who remains on PUP, also remains inactive. We also haven’t gotten an update on wide receiver Darnell Mooney, who left Week 4 with a hamstring injury.

Stay tuned here for more injury updates as they come available. The Falcons will publish their first official injury report on Thursday of this week, since they’re playing on Monday Night Football.
