The San Francisco 49ers will once again be starting Mac Jones while Brock Purdy recovers from turf toe. They’ll also get superstar tight end George Kittle back from his hamstring injury. The 49ers won’t, however, have Fred Warner back for the rest of the season after his horrific ankle fracture. An ordinarily formidable Niners defense is now down Warner and Nick Bosa until 2026.
Tonight, we pull for the Atlanta Falcons, led my former Washington Huskies star Michael Penix Jr. Is he Atlanta’s next franchise quarterback? So far he’s looked good, but for this game I’d like to see him look like the best QB in the league. Bijan Robinson might be the best running back in the NFL right now, and he may have opportunities to attack San Francisco’s weakened defense.
It’s also worth remembering that a Falcons win worsens the first-round pick they gave to the Los Angeles Rams in order to get James Pearce Jr. I’d love for Pearce Jr to wreck San Francisco’s offense.
Go Falcons! The game starts at 5:20 pm PT on NBC and Peacock.
