An incredible fan video has surfaced of Christopher Nolan’s 2012 blockbuster The Dark Knight Rises being filmed at the Pittsburgh Steelers’ home venue, Heinz Field, now Acrisure Stadium.
The final film of Nolan’s Batman trilogy was shot in various locations, including Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. In one of the movie’s most memorable scenes, Bane (the main antagonist played by Tom Hardy) sets off bombs across Heinz Field moments after kickoff in the Gotham Rogues’ football game.
Multiple Pittsburgh Steelers players, including Ben Roethlisberger, Troy Polamalu, Heath Miller, Ryan Clark, and Mike Wallace, also made cameo appearances.

The film starred Christian Bale (reprising his role as Batman/Bruce Wayne), Hardy, Anne Hathaway (Catwoman/Selina Kyle), Michael Caine (Alfred Pennyworth), Morgan Freeman (Lucius Fox), Marion Cotillard (Miranda Tate/ Talia al Ghul) and Joseph Gordon-Levitt (John Blake).
Other filming locations for Nolan’s epic superhero film included London, Los Angeles, New York City, Jodhpur, and Glasgow. More than a decade after its release, The Dark Knight Rises remains one of the most critically acclaimed superhero movies of all time, grossing over $1 billion at the global box office.
It’s also the only Batman movie to date to feature many players from a real-life NFL team. Congrats to the 2011 Pittsburgh Steelers on making history.
The new-look Steelers will kick off the 2025 season against the New York Jets. The team signed Aaron Rodgers and acquired All-Pro corner Jalen Ramsey and wide receiver D.K. Metcalf in blockbuster trades, looking to finally end their nine-year postseason victory drought.
