The Pittsburgh Steelers are still looking for ways to improve their roster as the 2026 NFL season inches closer. The Steelers already made a big move last month when it was announced they would be re-signing quarterback Aaron Rodgers for what he says will be his final year as an NFL quarterback.

One name still on the trade market in the wide receiver department is San Francisco 49ers star Brandon Aiyuk, who is currently in a public feud with the team, and who missed the entire 2025 season due to injury.

Aiyuk recently took to social media to post a video putting the team on blast, and one person wary of the Steelers getting involved in the drama is Curt Popejoy of Steelers Wire.

“As a long-time Steelers fan, videos like this feel way too much like some of the classics from former Steeler Antonio Brown and this team doesn’t need that sort of baggage,” wrote Popejoy.

Indeed, the later years of Brown’s tenure with the Steelers were defined more by off-field controversies and drama than by his production on the gridiron, which ultimately led to the two sides parting ways in ugly fashion, which seems to be on the horizon for Aiyuk and the 49ers at the current moment.

At this point, the biggest question seems to be how much an opposing team would be willing to give up for Aiyuk, considering that he clearly brings a bit of baggage along with him, and it’s unclear if he’ll be the same player after not having taken the field for a game in well over a year due to injury.

For the Steelers, the juice may not be worth the squeeze when it comes to a potential deal for Aiyuk.
