Former Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver George Pickens is focused on football and nothing else.

Former Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver George Pickens has found himself in the headlines for some good reasons and several bad throughout the first four years of his NFL career. However, he has done his best to shut out the noise this season and it has translated to the best of his career.

“Everybody has a job to do. Some people’s job is to do that, tear down character, see how many clicks they can get. I’m just here to play football and help the team,” Pickens said, via Jon Machota of The Athletic. “It’s starting to get kinda old.”

Cowboys WR George Pickens has moved on from the criticism about his effort: “Everybody has a job to do. Some people’s job is to do that, tear down character, see how many clicks they can get. Pickens, 24, has already smashed his career-best numbers this season. With still three games to go in the regular season, he has recorded a career-high 81 catches for 1,212 yards and eight touchdowns with the Dallas Cowboys.

He currently has the third-most receiving yards in the league, behind only Seattle Seahawks wide receiver Jaxson Smith-Njigba (1,541) and Los Angeles Rams wide receiver Puka Nacua (1,367).

That, of course, has led many to tab the Steelers’ trade, which sent Pickens to Dallas for a third-round pick in the 2026 NFL Draft, as arguably the worst in NFL history.

“I think that trading George Pickens is probably going to go down as one of the worst deals in NFL history, and I mean that. I’m sorry to the Steelers. I just think it’s true,” Kay Adams said on the Up & Adams Show.

It hasn’t been a completely quiet season for Pickens. He was benched to start one of the Cowboys’ games earlier this year. However, his play may have the Steelers rethinking their choices and wondering what could have been next to wide receiver DK Metcalf in their offense.

Either way, what’s done is done, and just like Pickens is shutting out the noise in Dallas, Pittsburgh will have to do the same as its search for another wide receiver continues.
