Former Baltimore Ravens head coach John Harbaugh is expected to become the next head coach of the New York Giants, according to a report by Adam Schefter of ESPN. The deal has not been finalized, but is expected to be in the coming days.

Harbaugh had a lengthy meeting with the Giants on Wednesday, and was expected to next meet with the Tennessee Titans, but it appears that Big Blue put on a push to land the services of the former Super Bowl winner.

Harbaugh and the Ravens parted ways on Jan. 6, just days after the Ravens lost to the Pittsburgh Steelers in a winner-take-all game for the AFC North title, and he quickly became one of the most sought-after coaches in the NFL coaching carousel.

Harbaugh was the coach of the Ravens for 18 seasons, compiling a 180-113 record and winning Super Bowl XLVII and the 2019 NFL Coach of the Year Award.

He was let go by the team amid reported tensions between him and star quarterback Lamar Jackson, and a struggle of a season for the Ravens, who finished 8-9.

In New York, Harbaugh will replace Brian Daboll, who was fired mid-season with a 20-40-1 record over four seasons.

After spending his entire career doing battle with the Pittsburgh Steelers in the AFC North, Harbaugh will now get a reprieve. The Steelers won’t play the Giants until they’re scheduled to make a trip to the Meadowlands in the 2028 season.

“I just have so much respect for Harbs,” former Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin said last week before he stepped down. “Our stories will forever be interwoven. This rivalry that we’ve been fortunate and honored enough to be a part of, I’ve just got so much respect for him and how he’s gone his business. We’ve certainly had some legendary battles over the years.”

The Steelers, meanwhile, are just getting their coaching search started, sending out five requests for interviews on Wednesday.
