Bill Belichick can be quite… menacing.
I don’t think that’s breaking news to any of you folks, but it might have been at one point for former New England Patriots cornerback Stephon Gilmore.
Gilmore made an appearance on “The Money Down” podcast on Thursday, and told a story about how his former head coach nearly made him cry during one of his first few days at One Patriot Place.
“He killed me one day, bro,” Gilmore said, as transcribed by Jordy McElroy of USA Today. “It was when I first got there. I was pressed down on the receiver. It was a bunch route. . . . And I got picked. Bro, he killed me the next meeting. I almost cried, how he did me. I ain’t going to lie to you. I went to the bathroom, like man, bro. I can tell you one thing: I ain’t never got picked again after that.”
Yes, even legitimate candidates for the Pro Football Hall of Fame can cry.
Gilmore’s story is definitely surprising, but only when you focus on the specifics. Belichick is an intimidating force in front of cameras, so imagine how rough things could get behind closed doors.
