The Tennessee Titans enter Week 4 with one of the NFL’s worst offenses.
With first overall pick Cam Ward under center, they’ve allowed the most sacks (15) in the league, are ranked 32nd in passing yards per game (133.7) and are 31st in total yards per contest (222.3).
Now, head coach Brian Callahan is giving up play-calling duties and handing the assignment to quarterbacks coach Bo Hardegree.
The 41-year-old is in his second season in the role with the Titans after spending two seasons as the quarterbacks coach with Josh McDaniels’ Las Vegas Raiders. Hardegree also worked with the Denver Broncos (2014), Chicago Bears (2015), Miami Dolphins (2016-18), New York Jets (2019-2020) and New England Patriots (2021) in various capacities.
He served as Bill Belichick’s offensive assistant during the 2021 campaign; the last time New England made the playoffs.
According to Titans reporter Jim Wyatt, Callahan revealed that offensive coordinator Nick Holz will remain at his post during the change.
Tennessee travels to face the Houston Texans in Week 4 in a battle of 0-3 squads.
Hardegree and company host the Patriots in Week 7.
