With the Pittsburgh Steelers losing five straight to end the 2024 season, NFL Network analyst Daniel Jeremiah thinks the team needs to reevaluate their approach in training camp. Late-season collapses have been a common theme for Mike Tomlin’s teams since 2018.
“They look like a dead-legged team,” Jeremiah said on the Shek Show with Dave Dameshek. “They look tired and exhausted, which to me is reason to at least consider studying practices in terms of how aggressive you want to go in training camp.”
“I love going to Steelers camp because it is like an old school (camp),” Jeremiah added. “I mean, they are hitting their own pads, and they come out the gates hot because they’re so weathered and worn with how they approach it.
“But this is a lot of evidence now of them faltering and falling apart late in the season. So maybe there’s something they need to look into from that standpoint of trying to maintain their legs a little bit because they just look tired and slow.”

Jeremiah also thinks it would be wise for the Steelers to move on from running back Najee Harris. Harris has never been known to be a speedster, his longest career run is only 32 yards. Jeremiah thinks Harris just lacks the explosiveness that the Steelers need in Arthur Smith’s offense.
Overall, Jeremiah thinks the Steelers need more speed on offense.
“They’re just not fast enough. Najee Harris, I know he’s a fan favorite because he’s tough, falls forward, and he’s physical,” Jeremiah said. “He’s got no juice. If you’re going to be a team reliant on the run game, you’ve got to be able to pop some explosive runs. That’s not 10-15 yards, that’s 50 or 60 yards.”
