Catching up on some ex-Jets
Now that the bye week is here, it’s time to update you on former Jets players and how they are faring with their current teams. Having looked at offensive and defensive players last week, we’ll be moving on to look at special teamers today.
As ever, this list is intended to be exhaustive, but if we missed anyone, let us know in the comments.
Kickers
The Jets have several ex-kickers doing a good job around the NFL, although they had mixed fortunes this weekend.
Nick Folk, Tennessee Titans
Folk, who led the NFL in field goal percentage last season, is having another strong year as he’s missed only one of his 18 field goal attempts and made all 21 of his extra points. He had a game winner in overtime against New England earlier in the season.
Cairo Santos, Chicago Bears
Santos missed his fourth field goal of the year on Sunday but has still made 80 percent (16 of 20) and 17 of 18 extra points. One week after his last second field goal was blocked in a one-point loss to the Green Bay Packers, he made a clutch game-tying kick to send Sunday’s game against the Minnesota Vikings into overtime, but the Bears lost in the extra session.
Chase McLaughlin, Tampa Bay Buccaneers
McLaughlin has also been solid with only one missed field goal in 18 attempts. He missed his second extra point of the year in Sunday’s blowout win over the New York Giants. McLaughlin, who doesn’t kick off, had a clutch game tying kick against the San Francisco 49ers but the Buccaneers still lost.
Eddy Pineiro, Carolina Panthers
Pineiro has had a strong year with just one missed kick as he is 16 for 17 on field goals and 18 for 18 on extra points. He had a game winner in overtime against the Washington Commanders earlier in the year.
Jason Myers, Seattle Seahawks
Myers has had some struggles with five missed kicks overall. He’s made 15 of 18 field goals and 25 of 27 extra points. In the win over the New England Patriots, he tied the game to send it to overtime and then won it in the extra period.
Austin Seibert, Washington Commanders
Seibert had been having good success with Washington as he entered Sunday with just two misses in 49 kicks and had made a game winner against the New York Giants. In Sunday’s game against the Dallas Cowboys, he missed a field goal and two extra points, including one which would have tied the game in the closing seconds. He now has made 27 of 30 field goals and 22 of 24 extra points.
Spencer Shrader, Kansas City Chiefs
Spencer Shrader’s second game with the Chiefs saw him make a name for himself with a walk-off field goal to give them the win over the Carolina Panthers on Sunday. He’s done well for them in his two games so far as he’s made all three of...
