The 2026 FIFA World Cup is finally here, and multiple NFL stadiums are being used across the country to host games. The Dallas Cowboys will host multiple World Cup games at AT&T Stadium over the next month. One former Cowboys player pointed out a few big changes about the venue made before the World Cup.
Former Cowboys quarterback Ben DiNucci said what everybody was thinking while watching a World Cup game played at AT&T Stadium.
“I’m laughing, Where are the shadows / glare in ATT stadium?” DiNucci wrote on social media on Wednesday. “When Dak is looking for Ceedee on 3rd and goal no one can see 3 yards in front of them but when the World Cup comes to town let’s put up curtains !!!”
The glare from the sun is a fixture at Cowboys games. It is infamous for creating issues for the Cowboys on a regular basis.
AT&T Stadium temporarily removed its artificial turf, replacing it with real grass to make a better pitch for soccer. The venue also added window tinting to the massive glass windows and doors that can create a glare during Cowboys games.
Cowboys head coach Brian Schottenheimer even joked that it will not be the same experience with the windows tinted.
“It’s not as majestic,” said Schottenheimer about the stadium changes, per The Athletic’s Jon Machota. “[Soccer fans are] gonna miss the experience.”
Dallas will host three more Group Stage games on June 22nd, 25th, and 27th. They will also host two Round of 32 matches on June 30th and July 3rd.
The last two World Cup games at AT&T Stadium will be a Round of 16 match on July 6th and a Semi-Final match on July 14th.
