Every School District Should Follow Gloucester City’s Lead and Give a Two-Hour Delay After the Super Bowl

Now personally I think every school in the Delaware Valley should be off the Monday after the Super Bowl, but I guess learning development will be stunted if Ms. Williams’ second graders don’t learn fractions for a day. So a delay will have to do and this South Jersey school district is leading by example and I hope more follow suit:

Hell yea. Good to see some people in this world still get it. You don’t want a bunch of zombies coming down from a Mountain Dew high and a belly full of buff chick dip slogging their way through language arts. That’s how you end up with a inability to discern “then” and “than” until your 30s like your boy. Let the kids enjoy a nice delay. Long division will always be there. Ask me if I remember what I learned in 6th grade after the Eagles lost the Super Bowl. Couldn’t tell ya. You know what I do remember? Crying my eyes out after Tom Brady beat us because Donovan McNabb might’ve had one or two more pops than (nailed it) he should’ve at a Jacksonville Chili’s. And look, I turned out ok, right?

Listen, if the Eagles win the Super Bowl I want school cancelled for the parade. I’ll have memories of skipping high school for the Phillies parade the rest of my life. You have your entire life to do school. You don’t have a lot of opportunities to enjoy a parade, especially being a Philly sports fan. The teachers don’t want to be there just as much as the students. If you have to have school, wheel that big TV in (it’s probably just on smartboards now) and throw the parade on for the kids. You want to learn about the Roman Empire, children? This is your Roman Empire today. A bunch of drunk football players riding down Broad Street while even drunker people fire beer missiles at them.

Kinkead: they should just play the game on Saturday
