The New England Patriots continued to put the NFL on notice by defeating the New York Giants on ESPN’s “Monday Night Football.”
New England improved to 11-2 with its 10th straight win, giving Mike Vrabel’s team the AFC’s top seed entering a Week 14 bye. Peter Schrager is among the many viewers impressed by the franchise’s sharp 2025 turnaround.
The ESPN analyst discussed the surreal feeling of seeing another Super Bowl contender at Gillette Stadium during Tuesday’s appearance on “The Pat McAfee Show.” Schrager marveled at how quickly the organization has reset without Tom Brady and Bill Belichick.
“It was like this crazy, ‘This is Your Life’ moment walking back into that building, and suddenly they’re the No. 1 seed again,” Schrager said. “And it’s just like, six years ago it was supposed to be done. They were supposed to wait 15-20 years.”
Schrager felt a looser atmosphere under Vrabel compared to Belichick’s locker rooms. He also loved what he saw on the field from the Patriots, who cruised to a 33-15 win over the Giants in a wire-to-wire rout.
“There was a levity to it. There was a joy to it,” Schrager said. “It was like, imagine the Patriots regime with a smile … It’s a whole different vibe than the Belichick era, and yet the same results so far. It’s early, but I was blown away by this team.
“It’s amazing to me that, with all the downtrodden franchises … that somehow, some way it took six years since Brady’s last game in New England, and they’re already the No. 1 seed again and sitting at the top of the perch in the NFL. It’s wild.”
