Erin Kate Dolan had enough, and she made that clear Wednesday night. The ESPN personality, known for her sharp sports betting analysis and rising influence at the network, took to social media to shut down a disturbing rumor that had begun to spiral.
A fake account, posing as Dolan, reportedly contacted people online, asking for money and claiming to be selling personal photos and videos. Fed up with the lies, Dolan addressed the situation head-on and didn’t mince words.
Since joining ESPN in 2021, Dolan has become a fan favorite on ESPN BET Live and Sunday NFL Countdown. She’s reportedly dating Philadelphia Phillies star Alec Bohm, and her Instagram, followed by nearly 400,000, only boosts her influence. On Wednesday, she used that platform to clear the air.
“Alright. Enough is enough,” Dolan wrote in a social media post. “I have Instagram, TikTok and Twitter. All are verified. That’s it.”
She didn’t stop there. In her message, Dolan made it clear she would never ask anyone for money, never sell personal content, and never speak to strangers online. Her warning came after multiple fans alerted her that someone was impersonating her through fake accounts.
“Despite turning off my DMs to not intake this nonsense, people still find a way to reach out letting me know these things are happening,” she added. “I assure you, it’s not me.”
The fake messages reportedly used convincing methods to trick recipients. Dolan believes the impersonator may be using manipulated content to make the scam more believable. While she didn’t point fingers, she urged her followers to remain cautious and reminded them that any contact outside her verified profiles isn’t legitimate.
Dolan’s response sheds light on a growing problem, impersonation scams targeting public figures and fans across social media. With her rising fame and role at ESPN, she faces constant misinformation. Dealing with it is expected, but never easy.
“Welcome to 2025,” she wrote bluntly at the end of her post, summing up both her frustration and the reality of being in the public eye.
