The Detroit Lions’ offense took a huge step back without Ben Johnson. As such, they might have to turn to a familiar face, such as Dan Orlovsky, to address those issues.

At least, that’s how producer Evan Fox feels. In the latest edition of ESPN’s “The Pat McAfee Show,” Fox floated Orlovsky’s name as the perfect replacement for John Morton:

“I got a name that nobody is talking about that would fit really well in Detroit, if you guys really want to hear that one,” Fox said. “I think Dan Orlovsky, with his history with the Lions, former teammate with MCDC. The guy knows everything about the Ben Johnson’s offense.”

Fox continued to make his case, talking about how much Orlovsky has always praised Jared Goff. And, with his attention to detail, offensive expertise, and all the weapons the Lions have, it might be a match made in heaven:

“He loves Jared Goff. Accurate quarterbacks. All those weapons. St. Brown, Jamo, Gibbs, Monty. LaPorta, when he comes back,” Fox continued. “Could you imagine Dan Orlovsky on the pen and paper, or in the VR [virtual reality] writing up plays for the Detroit Lions next year.”

Dan Orlovsky Would Love To Be An Offensive Coordinator

Notably, Orlovsky wasn’t opposed to the idea. If anything, he embraced it.

When asked about that, the former quarterback admitted that he still had nothing but love for the team that drafted him. And, with that type of roster, what’s not to like?

“I would do it very much so in Detroit. I love that place, I love that organization, I love a lot of those people that are there, I love Jared. I’m a big Jared guy. So, I love everything about Detroit,” Orlovsky said. “Detroit’s loaded. Loaded, loaded, loaded, loaded. I want the interior of the offensive line to be better. But, yeah, great place.”

Of course, most Lions fans might only remember Orlovsky for running out of bounds while in the endzone. He was also called to be banned from MVP voting, so some fans might prefer him as a coach over an analyst.

That being said, there’s still a world where he can help this team get to the mountaintop. He clearly has the know-how and the love for the organization. He just needs Dan Campbell’s stamp of approval.
