If you thought ESPN was done with its NFL lineup, think again. The network just added more punch to its roster ahead of the 2025 season, and it’s not just a reshuffle; it’s something more.
First, they pulled Peter Schrager from NFL Network earlier this year. Schrager, known for his wit and insight, is set to bring that same energy to Get Up and First Take.
But ESPN didn’t stop there. Despite the big-name signing, they doubled down on their existing talent. Dan Orlovsky isn’t going anywhere.
ESPN just locked him up with a fresh multi-year extension.
“The charismatic, well-respected voice continues as an NFL Live mainstay, a Monday Night Football analyst for select games and with an entrenched presence across ESPN’s studio show lineup,” the network said in a press release.
Just a few days after getting Orlovsky, ESPN dropped another headline. The award-winning Kansas City Chiefs beat reporter, Nate Taylor, is joining the team.
Taylor brings a serious portfolio with him. He spent the last few years at The Athletic, where he picked up the prestigious Bob Oates Beat Reporting Award from the Pro Football Writers of America in 2022. He’s also written for The New York Times, The Indianapolis Star, and The Boston Globe.
The guy has covered everything: Super Bowls, the NBA Finals, March Madness, and even the U.S. Open. And now, he’s all in on the Chiefs beat for ESPN.
This hire isn’t just about another voice on the screen. It’s about deeper access, sharper storytelling, and a more substantial presence in one of the league’s most followed markets. Kansas City fans will see plenty of Taylor this season.
ESPN looks determined to stack its NFL deck ahead of what promises to be a dramatic 2025 campaign. Between Schrager’s energy, Orlovsky’s continuity, and Taylor’s reporting chops, they’re playing for keeps.
There is no smoke, no fluff, just calculated moves. The message is loud: ESPN wants to own Sundays, Mondays, and everything.
