Mile High Report
The NFL trade deadline is a week away, and the rumors are starting to heat up. We have already seen the Broncos included in these rumors for a wide receiver and tight end, and they were once again name-dropped as a team that is interested in adding a wide receiver.
ESPN’s Adam Schefter mentioned that the Pittsburgh Steelers, Buffalo Bills, and Denver Broncos as the teams that have called about wide receivers ahead of the trade deadline.
We had a report last week that indicated that the Denver Broncos could be the biggest contender for a wide receiver at the trade deadline. Now, a week later, we gave Adam Schefter, the most in-the-know media member in the business name name-dropping the Broncos as a team that has called teams about wide receivers.
I mentioned in the previous rumor that it would make sense for the Broncos to look for a more reliable and established number two wide receiver behind veteran Courtland Sutton. At that time, both Troy Franklin and Marvin Mims Jr. hadn’t shown enough in my opinion to become that trusted number two target.
Well, then they play the Cowboys, and Franklin leads the team in catches and yards and has two touchdown passes while rookie Pat Bryant catches his first-career touchdown. Unfortunately, the Broncos will not play the Cowboys’ defense each Sunday, but Franklin and company put up a strong effort to at least make the front office think twice if they are indeed looking at receivers.
The names that are on the market include Saints wide receiver Rashid Shaheed, who Schefter thinks is the most likely Saints receiver to be traded. He’s an explosive receiver who could add another speed/deep threat guy to their offense.
It remains to be seen if the Broncos do indeed trade for a wide receiver, but they have been connected to them multiple times now. The trade deadline is one week from today, so we should hear more news in rumors regarding the Broncos in the coming days.
