ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter will get the special opportunity to cover another sport for his employer.

The 58-year-old Adam Schefter has worked for ESPN as an NFL insider since 2009. Schefter and NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport have emerged as the top insiders for the sport with 11.5 million and 4.8 million X/Twitter followers, respectively.

During an appearance on ESPN’s “UnSportsmanlike” program, Schefter dropped some exciting work-related news: He’ll be covering the PGA Tour’s Travelers Championship for ESPN+ as a sideline reporter on Thursday.

Schefter added that he doesn’t know which group he’ll be working with on Thursday, and he joked that there’s no clothing deal yet. Evan Cohen teased Schefter, noting he won’t be able to wear the standard suit-and-tie for the Travelers Championship.

Adam Schefter noted that he was supplied with a PGA Tour Live shirt, but he’ll have to provide his own pants and shoes for the golf coverage.

Schefter was rumored to be a potential replacement for Adrian Wojnarowski when the longtime ESPN NBA insider retired to take over as the GM of the St. Bonaventure Bonnies men’s basketball team.

However, that never appeared to be realistic, and the Worldwide Leader in Sports hired Shams Charania (previously at The Athletic and Stadium) to replace Woj as their top NBA insider.

The 2025 Travelers Championship runs from Thursday to Sunday at the TPC River Highlands in Cromwell, Connecticut. The tournament will carry a $20 million purse.

Adam Schefter Signed A Lucrative Extension With ESPN In 2022

In 2022, news broke that Schefter signed a multi-year extension with ESPN. Longtime sports media reporter Andrew Marchand, then working for the New York Post, reported at the time that Schefter’s new deal would pay him around $9 million annually.
