ESPN has made a surprising decision on a planned documentary on Colin Kaepernick that fans will not be happy to hear.

The former San Francisco 49ers quarterback last played in the NFL in 2016 but remains hopeful of a return to the league. He was said to be planning his comeback this summer, putting teams on notice.

Kap is also looking to tell his story and struck a deal with The Worldwide Leader in Sports on an eight-part documentary, with Spike Lee set to direct the project. However, it appears the deal has fallen through.

“ESPN, Colin Kaepernick and Spike Lee have collectively decided to no longer proceed with this project as a result of certain creative differences,” ESPN said in a statement to Reuters.com this weekend.

Lee added that it’s not going to happen.

“It’s not coming out,” he said. “That’s all I can say. I signed a nondisclosure [agreement]. I can’t talk about it.”

Of course, the show could get picked up by another company, but the NFL has influence just about everywhere now when it comes to streaming.
